"Last year I was at university and we had a small end of year party with about 15 friends, and I had a bit to drink. The next morning my friends were wondering why I didn't get up. Eventually they got into my room and called an ambulance. It was a drink spiking, but not the norm. I was on an anti depressant, but my drink was spiked with a different anti depressant and they reacted. I got something called Serotonin poisoning. I was in a coma for four days, the doctors said that if I was left for another hour I probably would have died. Drink spiking is a lot more serious than what many people think."
"One night while out with my girlfriends we were having a great night at a club dancing drinking, doing our usual thing when all of a sudden I started getting dizzy and just not feeling myself. When I looked at everyone all I could see was their black shadow. My friend stood right in front of me and I knew it was her from her voice but she was just black. She took me outside to get some air and that was it, I was throwing up constantly, security were rushing around getting me food and water because I was actually throwing up blood, I then started hypervitalating until I passed out and woke up the next day in hospital. It scared the hell out of me. Try buying drinks in bottles when you go out and have a friend that isn't drinking keep watch, we do now!"
"One night I was out having a few drinks with friends, and I'll admit I was getting drunk (as was the plan though) and I started playing pool with some people I know and sat my drink down to have my shot... the next thing I knew I was waking up in hospital. A friend of mine said I went to the toilet and never came back. He went outside and saw me on the ground across the road from the club. He found my phone and called my parents for me. While I was on the ground he was asking me questions and apparently I told him that I'd lost feeling in both my hands and feet. When I awoke in the hospital my mum was right there and said they'd done tests and found I had been drugged with GBH. I was always the type who never thought it would happen to me but I know now it can happen to anyone. I've learnt my lesson and I hope others learn from my experience too. NEVER LEAVE YOUR DRINK, IF YOU DO WALK AWAY FROM IT!"
"Last year I went out with three of my friends, for an end of year drink. Two of my friends got bored and ran out of money, so they decided to leave. I continued to dance and talk to people with my other friend who stayed. I remember a guy buying her and I a drink and then the next thing I knew I was in a motel room. I had no idea where I was, how on earth I had got there and most importantly, where my friends were. I don't know if I was assaulted and I was too embarrassed to tell police. I felt like it was my fault! I lost my mobile phone and my shoes. I had to go home on the train by myself, vomiting, with no shoes. People looked at me like I was a leper. If only they knew what I had been through! NEVER let anyone buy you a drink without you seeing it being made. EVER. It really can happen - I would never have thought it could have happened to me, absolutely never. It is such a wake up call and I encourage people to talk about it and report these scum who do this to young women."
"I was at a country pub with people I had known for awhile and who I trusted. I was drinking but knew I had to drive home so was making them last. I was playing pool to make sure I took my time drinking, I left my drink on the bar while playing and after about an hour I felt like I was really drunk. A man tried to touch me and I freaked and left. Driving home I was pulled up by the police and was twice the legal limit on four drinks in five hours. I asked to be blood tested and I had drugs and alcohol in my system. I ended up losing my licence for six months but the judge was sympathetic towards me because he believed that I had my drinks spiked."
